We always hear this time of year, “Be sure to keep Christ in Christmas.” It’s a great sentiment, and very important. But I started our new Christmas series (called “Joy to all men”) by asking us to make sure we keep Herod in Christmas. I’m not the first to do this, of course. And maybe you’ve heard a similar appeal. But I think this is important.
Jesus enters into the real world. And the real world isn’t the fake Hallmark version we love to pretend exists around this time of year. That’s why Luke starts his account of Christmas with King Herod. This year, let’s do the same.
